Season/School Year 2009 – 2010

Classes 11 – 13 (Age 17-20+):

“Multiple Choice” is a play about the pressures of having to make decisions and how those decisions can drastically influence our life. Alex has to make the choice between her own desires, the hopes of her parents and a promise she made to her best friend. We enter a rollercoaster ride of emotions as Alex faces one of her most stressful times planning her future. The opportunities are broad, but which way to go? A talent contest, a nightmare, a job, a place at University. Making decisions can be a tricky task! To be true to herself Alex makes some surprising choices to finally reach her goal. Reflecting on the effects that parent pressure, peer pressure and our own hopes and dreams can have on the path we take, the play offers a modern and humorous look at the age old struggle of rites of passage between childhood and adulthood, between who we want to be and who others want us to be. Written and performed for advanced audiences the play provides food for thought and material for further discussion.

Classes 8 - 10 (Age 14–16): Restaging

"One for the Road - Cowards Reloaded" is a hard-hitting, realistic play and written in intermediate English, which confronts the issue of teenage drinking and the relaxed attitude that most of us have towards alcohol. We learn how easy it is for teenagers to obtain and use alcohol. "Alco pops" are the enticing drink for young people today and in this play. Do you actually know how much alcohol these drinks contain? Are you aware of the effect they have on your willingness to take risks, on your ability to concentrate, and on the likeliness of accidents? Teenagers and adults often underestimate the strength of "Alco pops", which can result in such tragic accidents as in "One For The Road". This play questions the world’s probably most legal and widely-spread drug. What starts out as a seemingly harmless evening drinking, turns into a sad and avoidable tragedy. Being a breathtaking theatre experience, the play provides a forum for further discussion and demands us to think and hopefully, think again. According to increased audience demands our successful production is being restaged!
